Looking For Advice

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have a question, feel free to tell me what you think

I've has receeding front hair for 2 years now.

I started using minoxidil 5% and fincar tablets (quarters) about 7 months ago.

My hair was back within the first two months, i then stopped minoxidil and continued fincar everyday.

However in December my hair started to fall again at the same place.

I am still taking Fincar and i am back to square one using minoxidil and my hair is regrowing slowly.

I thought that once the hair was back it would not go away.

I have read that it would not help to increase the fincar amounts.

So i'm puzzled to what i should do.

Am i the only person to experience this ? Do you have any advice ?

Thanks for reading me.

To maintain the hair that was gained by the meds you have to continue with the meds.

If you stop applying minox then your hair will return to the same situ it was in prior to you starting it.

Meds are needed to maintain!

Well, it started like this.

I went to the ********* center in London.

They told me that once the hir has regrown i could stop Minoxidil and that i just needed to continue to take propecia/fincar/proscar (choose).

I thought they'd know.

Now how come once the hair has regrown and the DHT is supposed to be lowered my hair can fall again ???

Let me here of you people if you had similar experiences. Thanks

wrong! You must continue with the treatments to maintain results.

Proof - you stopped the treatment and your hair became worse.

Best get back on the minox - you can buy it very cheap - don't waste your money paying a fortune for it through ********* IMHO

Allright.

I don't fell like continuing the minox everyday of my life really.

It's really messy. I have to wash my hair everyday as my skins peels so much.

I work in an office and it looks very silly !!

Sorry to sound so stupid.

It just seems minoxidil is not good for a LT solution.

Have some of you reduced the minox applications ?

Maybe i can reduce it to once every few days when my hair has completely regrown ?

For the moment i'm doing it twice a day.

Thanks for all your answers so far.

Ultimately i could go for surgery really. This is getting too much for me.

The front is the hardest to maintain unfortunately with meds

you could try 1 x minox a day to save the hassle factor

have replied to your email

Minoxidil and any DHT blockers (IMHO) only stop hair loss and have a VERY limited success rate when it comes to growing hair back.

The only way to replace lost hair effectively is to have a transplant.

I wish clinics would not be so quick to put guys on meds for life in the hope that something might grow back.

Head of Hair - I know you take Dut. Has it worked for you for the hair you didn't have HT? or have you had your enitre head done? Also what dosage of HT would you recommend. As this drug is not approved for MPB, I read so many conflicting info as to "safe amounts" from 0.5 to 2.5 - I started taking 2 days ago and went straight to 2 Mg ! 4 tablets and now think I should "back off" a bit !

By the way, G22 - I gave up with Minox too for the hassle factor. It makes your hair greasy and in my view it didn't do much - Only very fine skin coloured hairs appeared, though it may have maintained - I plan for another HT soon and in line with taking Dutas have started back on Minox but I am only adding it once a day when I go to bed (but twice the dosage!) - This is not so much of a problem for me.
