  1. I don't have any pics right now. Maybe if I get a chance I can post some in a few days. I surfed back onto the forum randomly today to check my original pics to see if there's been any recession at my temples. Although I would say my hairline is slightly receded at my temples - compared to my school photos at 18 years - I really can't say it's further back than when I posted in 2011 - 2 years ago. My temples almost match the hairline from 2007 - 6 years ago. I don't think twice about my crown now, haven't done for years. After the initial thinning I had in 2007ish (which was in the early stages on my crown but happening quickly) and visible hair loss on my floor, bed, and shower I took 1/5 proscar and I had a mild shedding nothing noticeable and after about 3-4 months everything was thick, regrown and 'normal'. I now take Finpecia. So not more cutting. I much prefer it in regards to the process and haven't seen any difference in results or sides. No sides all round, very lucky there. I realise some people may see I have thickish hair and a fair bit left and thinking 'what is his problem then?' my story is just different and I am lucky to have caught it early and so far I have been responding well to the meds. It is thanks to this forum and other people on the internet and the advice given out. I am considering just in passing the idea of having my temples just slightly filled with FUE if I am a candidate. Just for myself. To have it gone from my mind entirely.
  2. An update... things seem to have slowed on my temples, my right temple seems almost the same while the left one (unless it's the slight angle) seems to have receded. Any ideas on why one side has gone back while the other seems not to have as much? Crown still going strong I was thinking about minoxidil foam for my temples, but I hear it can only have a 5 year life, then you become too used to it and it won't have any effect. So I think if my temples did worsen I'd go with a transplant for a more (hopefully) permanent fix. (I have just wondered looking at these comparison photos; are those short hairs across my hair line back in 2008 possibly Proscar regrowing hair? I know it isn't meant to help the front/temples but I can't understand why I'd have those short hairs. I started taking Proscar (1mg) in October 2007, and the photo is February 2008... is that a possibility? I don't have any short hairs in the recent photo... and I've had the same longish length hair so it would never been cut that short.) Here's a key for my scribbles on my upload. The blue arrow points to a small scar on my right temple, I think using that is good marker for my loss, the line going across also compares roughly my hairline across my forehead The green circle on the right - my left temple - seems to show a lot of uneven hairloss on that side compared to 2008 Ignore the red line you guys already told me that was a crazy idea of what my hair line should be. The purple W shows the same sort of weird pattern to the front of my hair. PS: Can't believe it was October 2007 when I first joined. If I hadn't I probably would have a seriously shiny crown right now. Got a lot of help reading and posting on this forum! Thanks
  3. Ah thanks Spex. I am still actually receding a little on my temples I think, still haven't got any pictures yet, but I can see it is slowly.
  4. --><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(josh - b @ Feb 16 2008, 11:16 AM) 26984[/snapback]</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> Are u on the meds? I take 1/5 of Proscar everyday for the crown and it worked really well, I've been on it 2 years now and the crown is what I'd call normal and I haven't had any side effects luckily, I hope it continues I posted these photos way back in 2008, February and I don't think I've lost much hair at the temples since I can't tell which I guess is good, I will have to get some more photos up so someone else other than me can judge. I'd love it to be a mature hairline, haven't heard about this before but just started to read about it. Slaps, I will look into diffuse thinning, I'm not sure exactly what this is. And I agree, I'd rather probably be a little receding than stand out with a bad HT Thanks for the input everyone who posted, when I logged in and checked the post date of this topic I was really surprised it was so long ago!
  5. Hey guys, I wanted to PM this to spex, but PMs seem to be gone since the last time I came here! I tried mailing Dr Ashcroft on the e-mail I did 1 year ago but it bounced back, does he have a new one? If he does can someone post it for me please as I'd like to continue after this batch is up (anytime soon!). Thanks Also: If I have been cutting my proscar into 4 instead of 5 and I switch to Propecia (1 (=1/5) Propecia tablet = less than 1/4 proscar) will the lesser dosage have no effect on me now? I'd be having 1/5 a dosage a day instead of 1/4.
  6. [childish winge] Thanks I feel so silly when I wake up or do my hair and think and worry about my early stages of hairloss when I know there are people who are worse off than I currently am at my stage. I just see it so much, it's there in plain view. I'm worried someone is going to say to me... you're receeding. Meds don't work for the frontal area as far as I know so HT is my only option to feel secure about my hair. [/childish winge]
  7. Thanks I have posted it there too, maybe this one can be merged or removed. I think I have drawn my hairline a little aggressively in hindsight! Good luck for July
  8. Hey everyone, I've been losing my hair for a while now, and I'm becoming much more aware of it at my temples, it isn't a huge amount, but it is a loss, an empty space that was not empty at one time. I have drawn a line in paint in red to show where hair should be. I am considering a hair transplant, Dr feller is a name that has appeared numerous times. I have seen his work, for months now checking the forum re-looking the same photos, amazing work. Well when I say considering, I am going to have a transplant if I am a good candidate, but was hoping for some 'custom' advice after seeing my head from some of you guys who have experienced this. I have read the very good topic by Spex and it sounds more painful than I thought, I'm a little scared when I think about it, but I know it's barely any price to pay for the result it could achieve. I am also losing my hair at the crown but proscar seems to have very much slowed that down if not halted it. I hope that is the case and am now looking to fill in these gaps so I can be confident when the wind blows Sorry I have gone off in all directions with this post. Basically I am asking what do you guys think, I am thinking from what I have read FUE is the way to go. How many grafts does it look like I would need? Anything else? Oh, do I have to have my head shaved... at the back and front? is it not possible to have it without that

  10. Just from what I have read it's best to buy it form Dr Ashcroft. You may find it cheaper online, but do you know what you're getting? Is it even propecia/proscar? You could be paying less for nothing. Always get prescription drugs especially ESPECIALLY in this sort of market from an official source. A Doctor with a prescription.
  11. Before I started taking proscar I'd lay there with my head back in the bowl dreading my hair being washed knowing it would be coming out in her hands like it did in mine and I'd wonder what on earth she was thinking! I still dread it, but not so much.
  12. I forgot and overlooked the fact some people aren't satisfied with their HT's - I don't have one so I cannot speak from experience. What you said makes perfect sense though, my post doesn't take that into account. I get what you mean though, in that situation this would be much more of a difficult issue.
  13. I figure I'd just tell my hairdresser. I look at it this way, what's more 'embarrassing', them standing over you seeing you thinning not saying anything and you sitting there worrying they noticed your balding patches. Or telling them you had an HT, but at the end of the day walking around with a full head of hair... and confidence. Noticeably balding and lacking in confidence < People knowing you had an HT but having a full head of hair and confidence What would you pick?
  14. Sorry to hear about the relationship. Who knows what will happen there in the future. But you will now have confidence and that problem eradicated from your life, you can look forward to tomorrow feeling much better about yourself knowing a problem like that won't hinder future relationships, you might have even improved them I hope when it's grown through etc it looks great!
  15. Thanks guys. I'm seriously considering this now for my temples, to fill them in so I don't worry about the wind blowing my fringe up or "holes" in my fringe revealing a high hairline. All sorts. Spex your videos are very good, had only seen pics before!
