Hi guys,
I'm 27 and have been losing hair gradually since I was 18, but have managed to hide it using concealers.
I've just started a course of finasteride and the recession/thinning of my hairline, dead in the centre (not at the temples) really seems to have accelerated. So much so that applying Mane there is really tricky, cos if I'm not careful, you can see it on the scalp.
Is an initial acceleration of hairloss a common thing with finasteride? If so, does this mean it may be working and could grow back?
And can anyone recommend any other treatments that may be able to stave the problem? I'm even considering other options, such as surgery.
Many thanks in advance for your replies!!!!

I've been on the finasteride for just over 2 months I reckon.
Apparently, the shedding is a good sign - shows my body is responding to the drug. I originally took the drug about 4 or so years ago, and got no response from it. Now I'm older and my body's changing, I am reacting to it. I'm certainly encouraged.
As for concealers, never tried Nanogen. Mane I think is pretty good for the hairline (if you have the patience!), although it can be messy. DermMatch is excellent for adding natural thickness to the rest of your hair. I recommend that lots.
