I have just been prescribed this nearly a week ago and just wanted to know truthfully how effective it really is.

Is it a waste of time and money, or in 6 months time will I have thicker hair on the top of my head and some regrowth on the temples.

From reading up from various sources I have been told it can take 6 months and new hair will have grown, but at £40 a month it aint cheap.

Am gonna give it 6 months then that will be all folks.

Maybe you would have been better off getting in touch with Dr Ashcroft, Proscar only costs about £120 for a year.

Without finasteride you'll almost certainly continue to lose hair. With finasteride you have a good chance of retaining your existing hair for many years and regrowing a little of your previous loss.

See www.propecia.com for more data.

I think you are being to optimistic here, regrowth is rare (especialy any significant amount) stabilising loss is the most common result but just a gradual slowing down of loss or even no results at all are not that uncommon. Also 6months is'nt a great deal of time to asses the results remember balding is a painfully slow process and so improvement will also be. There are no fast acting hairloss treatments and there probably never will be.

Believe it or not people do actually come on these forums expecting to find something like that. rolleyes.gif And some will be taking their propecia or applying minoxidil and then start checking in the mirror an hour later expecting to see some little hairs sprouting. (honestly) laugh.gif

Last week I planted an acorn in my garden and despite watering it everyday I still have no oak tree WTF is up with that? tongue.gif
