Hi Guys

I have posted a few times on the forum and the advice you give is first rate... Thanks!

I have difussed hair loss. In fact at present you can't really tell unless you look closely. I am currently just using a comination of different shampoos to try and stave off the effects of DHT.

I use Revita 5 times a week, then T-gel coal tar and Nizoral the other 2 days.

I'm thinking of stepping up my war on hairloss / DHT by starting on Proscar or Propecia.

Please could I ask if someone could let me and other newbies know a little more about the basics of proscar and propecia, e.g.

* differences / benefits between proscar and propecia (which is best?)
* how you split proscar into 5 pieces to take daily etc
* what is pill "half life" etc
* how you get hold of each, the best sources
* info on Dr Ashcroft and how order through him (e.g. just call or email him?)
* the cost of each

Plus anything else you think would be useful biggrin.gif

Sorry if going over old ground but would be very useful to us newbies.

Many thanks
Ian

Pondle is the man for meds info but you can start by having a look at propeciahelp.com.
Lots of info there.

Thanks Bigmac, but you might be confusing the consumer information site www.propecia.com with propeciahelp.com, a forum run by a small number of Merck-bashers. Propeciahelp.com is not a credible NPOV resource for drug information.

Propecia is finasteride 1mg prescribed for male pattern hair loss. Proscar is finasteride 5mg prescribed for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The only difference is the size of the dose.

Use a knife or a pill cutter. See Spex's video on Youtube.

QUOTE

The time required for half of a substance to be removed from an organism by physical or biochemical processes. A good guideline for how long a drug will remain in your body.

On prescription from a doctor.

Call him - details on Spex's website.

Proscar from Dr. Ashcroft works out at about £8 per month. It may be cheaper now. Propecia was about £30 per month from Boots.

Another one for you. How is it best to cut Proscar / how do people usually do it?

E.g. into quarters and take 4 times per week? Or cut into 5 and take 5 times a week?

If cut into quarters or 5 pieces, do people miss the other 2 or 3 days? or just keep taking using more than 1 tablet per week. Sorry a bit confused here...

Any advice would be great
Thanks guys
Stan
I cut mine into 4 pieces and have one a day.

I use a generic, Fincar, which comes in at about £50 a year.

Take 1mg (or thereabouts) per day. I usually cut it into quarters and take a piece every day. The extra 0.25mg makes little difference.

Hello,

I'm a new newbie to the website and have been reading through all the info on the forum and various articles etc for a while now now but i'm looking for a bit of advice.

Do people take proscar as well as using something to stimulate hair growth, various people on the forum say they take proscar but don't mention if this is all they take or if they use a spray something like rogaine etc as well?

Been using nourkrin for a good while now but decided recently to read more into hair loss recently, i notice nobody on this forum even mentions nourkrin, which doesn't fill me with optimism!! And at near fifty bucks for a month it's not cheap!! sad.gif

Can anyone recommed a supplier of proscar, has anyone used united pharmacies to buy meds?

Any info would be appreciated smile.gif
Thanks
Chuck

If your hair loss is at an early stage you might find finasteride alone enough to maintain your hair and maybe even regrow a little density. If your hair loss is more advanced you may want to combine finasteride with minoxidil. Personally, I find minoxidil too much hassle; it has to be applied twice a day, the lotion is pretty greasy and the response rate is low.

Nourkrin is a load of rubbish. It's basically just a nutritional supplement, and male pattern baldness is certainly not the result of a bad diet or too rich a diet or whatever. It's genetic, and no nutritional supplement is going to do anything to change your genetics.

Cheers pondle, think i'll have to invest in some proscar tablets.

I e-mailed dr ashcroft a few days ago about trying to arrange a prescription rather than buying from abroad, but have had no response.

I take it due to high demand it'll understandibly take a while to sort out a prescription??

Do you know if i would have to visit his clinic or would this be something that could be arranged over the phone??

Pondle
Phone him - it's not necessary to visit in person.

Chuck..

Pondle is right, give Dr Ashcroft a call.

I did this and can assure you his is a pleasant guy and easy to talk to. From my first call to delivery was about a week.
