Hey there, i have been on minoxidil (regaine) for about 5 months now, since january as an attempt to control/slow down my frontal loss as my temples are virtually gone now, and i am receeding and thinning on top very rapidly.Since i have been on it ive been worried that none is actually reaching the scalp, i know it is at the temples because the hair is short there, but on top i try to spray it under the hair with the extender, and try to rub it in but my hair just gets wet with it and my scalp seems dry so i dont think its being able to work on the top of my scalp. Anyone else get this at all? Also anyone had any success with minoxidil on their frontal areas? Joe

try the dropper instead of the spray.
The success with minox in the temples is limited - temples are the hardest area to salvage

this is just my opinion: if you really want to save your hair, i don't think minoxidil on its own is the way to go. look into combining a DHT-inhibitor with minox. my personal choice has been avodart, as it's been touted as the latest 'wonder drug' (and i haven't seen any loss since starting it, although we'll see what the future holds and whether it actually gets an official release as an anti-hair loss drug), but the other classic choices are obviously popoecia/proscar (finasteride) or topical spironolactone. Topical azeleic acid is also used in some minox products as it is though to inhibit DHT and also to stimulate cell renewal. Some people use retinol and its derivatives to stimulate skin in the same way (eg. retin A). if i were you i'd try some of these things if u want to try to get your temples going AGAIN (i know specs doesn't think this is possible, but i'm still hoping). there are always new treatments, don't give up on your temples. but, again, i'm not an expert, if i were you i'd move on from the regaine onto stronger stuff (regaine only goes up to 5% doesn't it - you can get up to 15% concentration minoxidil elsewhere for a start) as it didn't stop my temples receding, whereas my new regime has (for the moment anyway).

Hey there Johann, cheers for the advice. i use nizoral as well as a DHT inhibitor, whethereit does any good i dont know, i am going to get on proscar when i turn 18,i had a look at avodart and it seems very similar to proscar/propecia. Will proscar/propecia be good for the temples in the same way as you have found avodart to be do you think? Joe
