Hi there,
this is my first post. I'm 20 and noticed my temples receding last year. This was really shocking news as my hair has always been my trademark and i'm sort of known for it, so it'd be really embarrassing if i started losing it. my temples have only receded about an inch and at the moment i have messy hair and I just mess it up at the front to you can't tell my temples have receded.
anyway, i started getting serious about making sure the problem didn't get any worse in december last year. i did a little research on the internet and basically ordered the things that sounded the best. i'd like to list what i'm using and i'd be extremely, extremely grateful if you could comment on it and help me out.
i'm using
0.5mg avodart every morning
4 times 500mg saw palmetto extract in the evening
4 times 500mg soya isoflavones in the evening
anti-dandruff shampoo (no brand in particular. also, i don't actually have any dandruff)
the most comprehensive multi-vitamin i could find
in the evening i apply:
spironolactone solution at 5% to my temples
followed by doctor lee's minoxidil solution at 15% which also has azeleic acid at 5%
sometimes i put a little minoxidil and spiro on in the morning too.

so that's my routine. i'm concvinced my hair has not receded at all in the last six months since i started doing this (i take one photo a week), but i'm not really sure if i'm getting real regrowth - that is, terminal hairs. i have THICK peach fuzz in the corners of my temples. what do you think my chances of getting my hair back the way i want it?

i'd be so grateful if you could give me any advice. thankyou
spex
The temples are the hardest to salvage in all honestly - your reg appears solid and is primarily doing its job - stopping further loss.

This is key - stopping further loss!!!

You are still young and it sounds like you've done your research so you will be aware that the only thing really to get your temples back is to restore them via A small FUE session BUT as i'm sure you are also aware your age is a factor and you don't know what is going to happen down the line in terms of further loss so i would at this stage advise against that - a few more yrs and still no further loss then maybe.

sorry i can not be of more help but the temples are a nightmare to salvage in all honesty - can you send me some pics over to my email and i will have a closer look at the pattern and the extent of the loss and attempt to advise better

thank you for replying

i am relieved that the loss has apparently stopped, but these drugs are so expensive that i'm not going to be very happy paying all this money not to be totally satisfied, so if you really think there's not much chance getting terminal hairs back in the temples, i would definitely consider surgery.

where would you advise i start finding out about it? where did you get yours done? are there different types of hair implant? as i say, these rugs are so expensive that getting hair implants wouldn't really be that much more expensive, assuming i was able to thin out my regime after getting them.

sorry - typo. these #drugs are so expensive, not rugs!
