Finasteride/Minox combo………..

I’ve been on Finasteride for approximately six years and have no doubt that Finasteride has delayed my baldness dramatically.
I have often considered incorporating minoxidil into my regime to assist through propecia lows. Note I tried Minoxidil at early stages of my MPB and initially experienced a increase in hair loss (shedding), I’m a little hesitant in trying it again. What are your thoughts? Is Finasteride with Minox a good combo? Should I give it another try?
Thanks

In theory finasteride and minoxidil can work synergistically. Fin lowers your DHT levels, minoxidil stimulates your follicles. However, minoxidil doesn't work for everyone (1/3 - 2/3 success rate?) and it's hard to apply -except for the new Rogaine foam version.

If you want to try other topicals what about copper peptides, Revivogen or spironolactone cream?

Ashely,

I started losing my hair at 18 and started minoxidil 2% pretty much straight away. I found that my shedding increased from around 2 weeks after starting until anout 5-6 weeks, after which it stopped. Then nothing happned for a further3 - 4 weeks. After this however, my started to really thicken up. Week by week my hair improved.

The same happened a few years later when I went from 2% minoxidil to 5% minoxodil. I had a shedding phase , which stabilised after 2 months and regroth started about 3 months and my hair thickened up more than on 2% (2% was only maintaining at that point).

However, because the onlslaught of MPB is relentless, the 5% did well, but I still had loss albeit far slower. I then added fin and after about 6 months my hair really thickened up. I went from looking like I was losing hair to not looking like I had a hairloss problem!

So in my opinion Min and Fin and excellent complmentary treatments.

My only advice would be, if you start the min, please stick to it! It's really easy to get freaked out during the shedding stage. My cousin started it and kept wanting to stop because of the shedding, but I made him stick to it because I had been through it. Sure enough around month 3 he started gettng major regrowth!
