Full Version: Can Dutasteride Maintain The Hair You Gain From Minoxidil

Hi,

I've been on Dutasteride it's been 2.5 years now, and it did maintain my hair and gave me some peach fuzz, I think I improved from 4 Norwood to 3.
I did try Minoxidil 2% and 5% for 4 months 2 years ago, I don't think I gained hair from it, and quitted since it gave me irritation, headache, dizziness, and depression.
I really want to improve more, so I'm thinking to do one last (desperate attempt...lol), and go on Minoxidil 15% and 20% this time, tolerate the pain for 4 months, and then stop Minoxidil, and stay only on Dutasteride, hoping it will be able to maintain the extra hair gained by Minoxidil.
My question: The extra hair or thickness of the hair gained from applying Minoxidil, Can it be maintained by Dutasteride?
Did any body experience that?

Thanks guys

Good plan, in theory, but I doubt it will work in practice. I also doubt that anybody can answer that question seeing as these treatments work in different ways with different people.

The reasons I think it won't work are that:
1) I don't believe that minoxidil works at all
2) even if it did work, 4 months wouldn't be long enough to notice any possible improvement from minoxidil - it requires about 9 months of use to see any results (after 4 months you will only be at the "initial shedding" stage and will more than likely have less hair because it takes approximately 3 months for the shedded hair to START regrowing)
3) there is a great risk that the minoxidil will only make your hair loss worse
4) if you use it for longer your hair will become minoxidil dependant and you risk shedding even more once you stop using it
5) if 2% and 5% minoxidil made you depressed, you'll probably end up committing suicide on 20%

I used 5% minoxidil for 10 months and permanently lost a lot of hair. The only way you will find the answer to this is by trying it... rather you than me though wink.gif

Let us know what happens if you do decide to try it.
