I just went out to buy some Nizorelle and discovered that Lloyds pharmacy stocks Nizoral too, I was pleasantly suprised as I hadn't seen it in the other chemists I'd visited so decided to buy some. As it'll be my first time using it my question is.. do those of you that use it follow the instructions in the leaflet or use it a bit more for hairloss purposes? Also.. should I wait until after the weekend before I start using it as I am going to a wedding and will be very concious of my hair anyway, shedding more than is necesary before then would be frustrating to say the least.. What were your experiences using it for the first time? smile.gif

What strength is it, 1% or 2%? They use different names for the same stuff in different countries. I bought Nizoral from the US but it was only the 1% stuff. I doubt using it once will couse enough shedding to be noticeable... I began to suspect something was going wrong after a few months of using it when the difference became obvious in the mirror (my new hairline was thinner at 9 months that it was at 6 months ohmy.gif - I started using it at 6 months post-op).

Hi Guys
Concerned to read that Nizoral can cause shedding... Is this normal part of using it and does hair grow back stronger?

Have been using Nizoral about 6 weeks and I must admit hair does actually feel abit thinner (it maybe my paranoia lol).. I'm currently not using any other products, and I use the Nizoral about 3 times per week with my usual shampoo at other times.

Would be good to hear others thoughts about Nizoral

According to the shedding theory it is a sign that is working and that thicker hair will replace the hair that shed. That is also the theory for minoxidil but when I used it (minoxidil) for 10 months I just lost hair permanently. After what happened with minoxidil I was too scared to continue with Nizoral once I noticed the shedding. My hair seems to have thickened up again after stopping Nizoral though so fortunately it wasn't permanent loss this time. It even looks like some hair is growing back on my crown now 3 months after stopping Nizoral - not new hair but the hair I shed from using it. This was only my experience with it though... not everybody reacts in the same way.
