Proscar and Propecia are the same. I doubt it has caused you to have the symptoms you describe. I certainly haven’t head about them before.

See how you get on in the next few weeks.

Heys spursman - great to see you here!! biggrin.gif

Mongo - I don't think that propecia / proscar will be giving you a sore throat.

I remember reading this and thought, "ridiculous, how could proscar possibly cause a sore throat". Anyway, I've been on proscar for just over 2 weeks now and for the last week I've had a sore throat! And I never have a sore throat. I wonder if this could be to do with the coating being broken when cutting proscar and the powder touching the walls of the throat unsure.gif I just remembered today that somebody had posted about a sore throat and ran a search for this message to see if I remembered correctly. I've also noticed a drop in libido so it looks like my expensive supply of proscar will be getting flushed down the toilet mad.gif Should have known better than to fall for the damn proscar scam rolleyes.gif That's $200 down the toilet, literally mad.gif

Really!? Has this happened to you? OK I'll stay on it for a while longer... I think I'll swallow the bits with a gallon of water to try and prevent the drug from getting on my throat. My throat is killing me at the moment sad.gif

I think I've found a solution to the sore throat problem. Previously, I swallowed the proscar crumb and then filled a glass of water to drink. The crumb was probably in contact with the lining of my throat for a few seconds during the time I prepared the glass of water. Yesterday I got a large glass of water ready before taking the proscar crumb and as soon as I put the proscar crumb in my mouth immediately washed it down with a large glass of water. I then drank another glass of water to makes sure is was well flushed down. My throat was a lot less sore this morning.

When i first tried propecia i did have a drop off in the libido,it lasted no more than 4-5 weeks very tops and then things returned back to normal biggrin.gif ,when i went to AHS i asked the question about using propecia and was told that this was one off the side affects, only he stretched the truth some and said the effects lasted the whole time you are on the drug huh.gif ,being a single young lad at the time it scared the hell out of me so i stayed away from it.

I have now been on propecia in some form or other(propecia, proscar, and now fincar indian generic)for over 3 years and have had no problems or side effects, its just a tempory thing and the body will adjust and be back to normal in a couple of weeks.

As for the sore throats i think you have hit the nail on the head with your thoughts, it is after all a sealed pill that has been cut into 4,and the coating broken and the drug exposed, this may be too strong on what is a delicate area,so plenty of water should do the trick.

Thanks tbf,

I hope the drop in libido is closer to a couple of weeks rather than 4-5 ohmy.gif

Anyway, my throat is almost better now biggrin.gif

You guys sure its the proscar that is causing you the sore throat? Although I've gotten a mild sore throat right now.. I think its just because I suffer from Hayfever. It's given me a runny nose and I've been sneezing a lot too. If you have those symptoms too, it may be down to the high summer pollen levels. My area has a real pollen problem mad.gif .

Nope, no hayfever, flu, cold or any other symptoms - just a sore throat (that is now better after the introduction of the PB Proscar Crumb Consumption Method (PBPCCM)).
