Hi,
I'm new. Sadly losing my lovely mane. Mainly on crown at mo. Tried various things to help but going through a divorce so I think nothing has the power to stop the stress effect of that!! Anyway, doing a bit of research I guess I am gravitating to the conclusion that at least todays HTs offer us a hope to recover our look. Obviously though it is a big step and I wonder to what extent you can get it done without too much 'sensation'. By that I mean, how long would you need to be off work say and how noticeable would it all be? If you have some coverage of hair, can implants be done without shaving your head short? Also can the main scar be covered by your hair (hair that's moved out of the way) or is it generally a shaven region that will be hard to mask. Just wondered what sort of time out you guys had around the op period and how people reacted to your look immediately afterwards? Welcome responses, HairHope |

Hi Hairhope,
Browse over the various HT experiences here and on other forums to get a good feel for your requirements and the HT process. You will soon see approx judging by other patients pics etc what your approx requirements will be and how those comparison patients went about their own HT - ie Strip, FUE, Size session, growth time, recovery time, back to work etc etc. By all means put some pics up so we can help give you some furthe rinfo to your requirements. Trick is not to rush in an research numerous good clinics to also get a good alround opinion from various established Docs if you intend to go down the HT road. Hi mate,i had my crown addressed by Dr Feller-i took nearly 4 weeks off,i grew my hair longer pre op then went to a barbers post op and got him to match it up with enough to cover my fresh scar.A good short haircut plus MSM (vitamin) daily and nobody questioned a thing.Hope this helps,as Spex says there are plenty of posters on here with their stories.

Thank you guys.
I guess going ahead with one would be such a big thing that you could plan to take a good time out to account for this. One basic question I have is about hair loss and the transplanted hairs. Are these hairs immune to being attacked in the same way the original hairs (in those positions) were? In other words are they genetically different and therefore should be permanent once established. Or could the T hairs one day be attacked and fall out? Are the stats good for T hairs staying in over time? I suppose the holy grail would be to be able to somehow clone or grow a constant crop of donor hairs (stem cell research?) from your own so that a full head could be achieved no matter how thin you were. At least we live in a hopeful age, where science and medical methods are advancing. We live in hope. HairHope |

hi hair hope, the hairs from the doner area will not be affected in the same way as the hairs from the top of your head, so the ht hair will stay there for good once transplanted.

Just one final question for now, how do you rate the European HT docs (I noticed a few in Belgium with good reps) - In comparison to US? Comments welcomed. HairHope |
