Hi,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a reliable supplier for Proscar? I obtained my previous batch from Dr. Ashcroft, but I'm not getting a reply from him. Has his contact details changed? Thanks, WW. |

Phone him. Alternatively, there's Boots Hair Retention Programme or your local GP.

Thanks - what is the best time of day to phone him - does he do texting? Thanks. I just called him today to order some proscar. He said they now do a generic one which is exactly the same and fine to use. Saves you about £50 from the origional. I called him at 5:30pm. |

After asking the same question on an american forum an english guy gave me some advice and I recently ordered my last batch of propecia from a site called www.Direct-propecia.co.uk it was really good value and it came in two days signed international postage (think it was from Jersey) But none the less good service.
When i first got into using fin i was a bit naive and ordered my first batch from one of the really expensive sites that google throws up in the top rankings, only a months worth but i mean with a bit of investigating I managed to get like 4 months worth for the same price. I guess it pays to shop around. Having said that the second batch i ordered from one of the bigger pharma sites, it was cheap but took 3.5 weeks to get here had to ring them up and nearly got them to send out a second batch and it arrived on the final cut off day (Phew) but in the mean time i had a window of about 5 days which i had ran out in, that wasn't great. Never tried Doctor Ashcroft does he do generics or the real Merck stuff ? quite curious. |

Hi,
Just started looking into Propecia - an Im already confused. Am I right in saying that in the UK I need a prescription (i.e. Dr Ashcroft), or I can get it on line? I was looking at http://www.direct-propecia.co.uk, and they do 2 products: 1mg Generic Propecia (Finax) 360 x 1mg (12 month's) Generic Propecia £120.00 5mg Generic Proscar (Finast) 360 x 5mg (12 month's) Generic Proscar £160.00 what is the difference between the two? Can I cut up the generic Proscar into 1/5th, and effectivly get 5 years worth for £160 ? Had anyone used http://www.direct-propecia.co.uk ? -------------------- 4 Strip Procedure at "The Hair Clinic" and John Bell & C, Wigmore Street. Between 92 and 98. NOT GOOD
I NEED TO SORT IT OUT! |

Pianoman, be very careful with internet pharmacies. Many unregulated foreign websites are selling fake drugs that will at the very least be a waste of your money, at worst harm your health.
http://www.nhs.uk/news/2009/04April/Pages/...nesafetyQA.aspx You used to have to get Propecia on private prescription from a GP, but in the last couple of years some pharmacists have also gained the right to prescribe medicines. Since then, Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy have both started selling Propecia - the former in selected stores, the latter online. http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser...ntion/index.jsp http://onlinedoctor.lloydspharmacy.com/service/Buy-Propecia Dr Ashcroft will prescribe you Proscar or a 'generic' version of the same. Proscar is a 5mg dose of finasteride licensed for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia. Propecia is a 1mg dose of finasteride licensed for treating hair loss. The active ingredient is exactly the same. You can split a Proscar tablet into fifths and get the same effect as Propecia, but cheaper. |

Hi Pondle,
Thank you for that detailed reply. Lloyds Pharmacy on line is £285 for 6 months! Looks like generic Proscar, prescribed from a GP is the way to go. Pianoman, be very careful with internet pharmacies.
