I've taking Proscar from Dr Ashcroft now for about 1.5/2 years. My hair is receeding noticeably (to me) on the temples and short of a HT is there anything else successful that I can do about it?
I've now got quite a big 'forehead' from where the hairline has receeded but fortunately for now my coverage is still good elsewhere. I don't know what to do I use Nizorelle we 3 days and split the proscar religiously in the morning. I don't want to try srubbish which doesn't work. HT scares me as because I have only lost temples and a bit of depth at front (front has receeded about 1cm, temples much more so) I don't know when is the best time for a HT. Plus, I don't have the money or guts to go for one so it is not a viable option for me at present. What can I do to limit my loss from the temples? Thanks, William. |

read the 'topicals for helping temple growth' thread - Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much to help temples except possibly Minoxidil. I just bought some tricomin in the hope that might help

Even finasteride isn't proven to stop hair loss at the temples (it was never tested in this specific region of the scalp - but logic suggests that it should help to slow down the process, at the very least). As Joe says, minoxidil is the only other medication that could really help, short of a transplant. Speaking of HTs I've seen Dr Sanusi Umar, a California-based surgeon, achieve amazing results at the temples & hairline generally.

Thats quite good - but I really don't want anything as severely noticeable as that!
I notice more and more doctors being mentioned here - are they now superceding the work of Dr Feller? |

I don't know much about the world of hair transplantation, but I do know that there are many excellent surgeons working in the field - Armani, Rassman, Umar, Hassan & Wong, etc etc.
